Boot camp is an expression in US English meaning a place where strict discipline is imposed on persons sent there. Because an Air Force is a military service, all persons recruited and entering that service. even though their duties on qualifying might not be connected with flying airplanes, are given such a tough basic training course involving lots of discipline with physical fitness and higher standards of smartness being required compared to trainees or recruits coming into a civil occupation would normally experience. So such a training base might be referred to as "air force boot camp" although in other parts of the world like the UK the expression "RAF square bashing camp" or "spit and polish training camp " has been in vogue to convey same meaning.
