You should go into the Marines right now. Later on, you will be able to pursue other things in life with assistance from the US government, such as educational assistance.

The Marines will be one of the greatest experiences of your life.

Have you talked to a Marine recruiter yet?

The ASVAB isn't that difficult of a test. If you are graduating high school, you most likely possess the skills you need to do well on the ASVAB. The Marines are actually one of the easiest services to get into with subpar ASVAB scores. So you probably don't need to wait long to be able to pass the test.

However, you do want to do your best on the exam so that you can have a wider selection of jobs to choose from in the military. If you meet with a recruiter, you can take a practice ASVAB test just to get an idea of the areas that you will need to boost your score in.

If you end up with a really good score, you might want to consider another branch of the military. The Marines is primarily infantry, but you can find a lot of great tech jobs in the Air Force, Navy, and, to a lesser degree, the Army that will prepare you for life in the civilian world.

Whether you join the military right away will be up to you. You might want to find a job and wait awhile to join the Marines. But if you know it's something you want to do, there is really no reason to wait. You'll get paid the moment you are enlisted and won't have to worry about your living expenses.

Just get in touch with a local recruiter. They will make the recruitment process a lot easier for you. I think you'll find that it's a lot easier to join than you think.

There is a book called "ASVAB for Dummies" that will help you study for the test if you are having trouble passing it. I work for a high school and one of our students failed the practice exam. After studying for the test, he was able to pass it.

In addition to the technical skills you will learn while in the military, you will have a stable income and learn many lifeskills. While you grow older and more self confident, you will have a team
of friends who will help and encourage you. You will also have the opportunity to travel and see the world.

Joining the military has been a respectable career choice for hundreds of years. Good luck to you!
