If I enlisted in the Army Reserves but got an honorable personal dischage before boot camp can I still claim I was in the service on applications? I enlisted and approximately 2 or 3 months after I got a personal discharge for family reasons and had to option to keep my military insurance. I want to know that even though I did not complete basic training do I still have the option to put that I was in the military on applications for employment and loans? I had the option to re enlist after I believe 2 years but I couldn't as I was pregnant. Thank You |

I know it was a personal discharge and I asked if it was honorable (because I didn't do anything wrong....I just needed to raise small children whom just came into my life) and the recruiting officer handling my paperwork said yes. I just didnt know if I could claim it as service duty because I did not go through basic training. I only did my 2 weekends a month until I was discharged. Thank You
