You are talking about an out of control teenager. Eventually that person will get in trouble with the law, certainly will ruin his life and spoil his chances for a good education and job. There is a good chance for bodily harm and even death from drugs and violence. Given all this, a boot camp is one way to effect control and to do training. Alternatives are jail, or the military (but why punish the military; they have a tough enough job as it is).

Look at a variety of teen couciling and rehab facility. I've heard of a camp type one not military related but more like a retreat where they learn how to fish, cook, clean and fend for themselves while coping with staying sober and getting treatment. There are a varity out there if you look with different cost options.

Boot camps are not the only solution, but right said by Trove, a troubled teen engage in substance abuse violence, break laws, what could be the solution. Should he be thrown into jail. Boot camps are good for turning him to changed youth. And not all the boot camps lost their reputation, there are few incidents that did happened in the past but enrolling or sending him to a reputable boot camp is an effective way of turning him around. Look for the abundance of option here on this link, it also includes boot camps in all major states of US. http://www.boot-camp-boot-camps.com/juvenile_boot_ camps.html

Once your child has reached the threshold where you're considering boot camps and boot camp alternatives, they should probably be sent to a boot camp.

While these boot camps are certainly expensive, it far outweighs the possible cost of life and property by an out of control teen. There are many different type of boot camps, from short summer stays to longer arrangements, from local camps to some in exotic locales.

I would spend as much as you can afford to send him or her as far as possible and as long as possible, just to make sure that all of the negative influences like friends and lifestyle are re channeled into venues that are a bit more healthy.
